Am I eligible for Social Security disability benefits?
Eligibility for social security disability benefits depends on many factors. The first thing that you want to look at is your disability itself. What are your impairments? Physical and mental or either physical or mental? Do they prohibit you from working a full-time job on a full-time sustained basis? If the answer to that is yes, then most likely you will qualify for some program. There is a DIV program or SSDI, which has benefits available for people that have worked 5 out of the last 10 years prior to their disability. And then there’s also an SSI program, which is a needs based program if you are disabled. Your assets and income are a factor for that program. So the main thing you want to look at is what are your impairments and do they prevent you from working. If the answer to that question is yes, then I highly recommend that you contact and attorney and obtain a free consultation to see if you meet the other requirements necessarily for the Social Security Administration.
