Who will be at Social Security disability hearing?

Video Transcription

Well at all social security disability hearings, you will be there, a judge will be there, there will be a hearing monitor there, and if you’re represented by an attorney, which I highly recommend that you do, your attorney would absolutely be there with you as well. In addition to that, if the judge feels that they need a vocational evaluator or they need a medical expert to be there, then they will either be there in person with you, or they will be by telephone or even on video to be able to answer questions for the judge based on additional evidence that’s provided at the hearing. However, beyond that, this is a closed hearing. That means that people from the public are not allowed in to hear, and they’re not allowed to see the information afterwards, because you are protected by federal privacy act.
